* 8/14/09 8:08pm Day 41: The End of Another Long Week *

Oh my goodness … today I am so tired. I am so happy it is Friday and I have the weekend to recuperate. I swear, there is no time to sleep in here…I just want to devote one whole day to sleeping, but I can’t seem to find the time.

Today we went to class, and then ate lunch with our friends again. Today was the last day for our one of our teachers (we have 2 teachers, they switch off teaching) and for two of the students. The whole program is 4 weeks, but they also offer a 2-week option and a 3-week option, so some students are leaving this week and at the end of next week. Anyways, the teacher that is leaving is super cute and sooo nice…I really liked her. I will definitely miss her…the teacher that is staying is not as encouraging or nice. But we’re getting a new teacher in place of the one that is leaving, so hopefully he/she will be nice too. Anyways, the pictures are of me and the teacher and me and the girl who is leaving after this week. She was from the Netherlands! She taught me lots of Dutch :) :)

After class, we went to Katie’s apartment again and had a bible study. It was really good stuff. We decided that we have time for 3 bible studies left (one per week), so we’re going to go over the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. We’re going to go over each character in the story – the lost son, the elder son, and the father. It was good…I don’t think I’ve ever done a bible study or heard a sermon on it, even though it’s like one of the most well-known stories of the bible. But anyways, it was good bible study. I’m not going to type all of my notes in here, but it was super interesting. It really shed light for me on G’s character and our character as humans. Today we went over the prodigal son, and basically how we’re slapping G in the face by turning away from him. But yet, he is always the father that is waiting for us everyday to return to him and when we do, he doesn’t even wait for our apology to forgive us. Instead, the moment he sees he, he runs to us and embraces us and kisses us. There is no probation period at all; he simply just accepts us back into the family. He gives us the best stuff (in the story it was the robe, ring, and shoes, all of which represent something important) and rejoices and celebrates our repentance. I really enjoyed today’s bible study…it was definitely an eye-opener. I think most of the time I go to bible studies I don’t get much out of it, but I got a LOT from this one and can’t wait for the next one. I also really enjoy the company; the bible study is just me, Geneva, Joanna, and Katie. I like it because it’s so small and we can be so close and personal. And the 3 of them are just so easy to talk to, and I feel like I can be completely open with them. Anyways, after bible study we just came back to the hotel and studied/watched Arrested Development. Right now we are ordering Mexican food from a restaurant nearby for dinner. We’re just hanging out tonight and studying, because this weekend is going to busy busy busy (as usual)!
