*7/19/09 10:10pm Day 15: Fun! *

Today was tonnss of fun :) Absolutely nothing productive was done at all. It was a good day.

Me, Kelly, Geneva, and Nancy went shopping at People’s Square in the underground mall for most of the day. The underground mall is where all the cheap stuff is, and you can bargain with them and stuff like that. It’s lots of fun :) So we went there, but it was OVERWHELMING. There are so many little stores and there’s just so much STUFF! It’s almost like there was TOO much stuff, so I couldn’t see anything because there was just EVERYTHING. But anyways, I ended up only buying 2 pairs of earrings and a Hibao (the mascot of the World Expo that is taking place in Shanghai next year). But it was a pretty good deal. The earrings were 12 yuan for both, so 6 each…less than $1 each pair! And the Hibao was 15 yuan, which I guess is pretty good too. He’s a good size. There was probably a lot more I could’ve bought, but there was just so much stuff it was difficult to look through everything and find what I want. And also, in China the store clerks just kinda follow you around or stare at you while you look through stuff, just to help you out if you need anything. But that’s totally not what like because in America they leave you alone and I like shopping alone…so it’s really uncomfortable for me to have someone watching me shop, and I guess it makes me kinda rush through looking. Oh well, maybe I’ll go back later.

Anyways, after that, me and Geneva went to church at SCF again. There was a 4:00 service, so we went to that one so that we’d have more time to shop :) The message today was on worrying and anxiety. I thought it was somewhat applicable…The pastor talked about how anxiety can make us feel separated from G because we worry too much and think he won’t take care of it. I think this was a really good lesson for me to learn for the future, because I don’t really have much anxiety right now.

Anyways, after that, I went back to the hotel and rested for about 30 minutes, and then went out to dinner with my MMK team. We went to this bbq place on Student Street, where they offer a lot of barbequed stuff on skewers. It was pretty good…but it was really greasy and oily and there were some chunks of fat on the skewer, so I didn’t like it a whole lot. And we let the Chinese students order, so we had pretty interesting stuff…we had stuff like chicken heart, chicken cartilage, lamb…it was quite interesting. I didn’t think i’d ever eat heart in my life, but they told me it was good so I tried it. And it was good! Well, I think I still like the meat of chickens better, but heart isn’t so bad. Once you get past the thought of what you’re eating. But I had a lot of fun with my team…it was just reminder of how much I’ll miss them! They are all hilarious and I wish I could hang out with them all the time. I’m so jealous of the cultural exchange students, because pretty much all they do is hang out with the Chinese students all day while we have to go to class!! so they’re really close to the Chinese students, and they know all the cool local places to eat and hang out at because the Chinese students show them around. -___- Tomorrow we decided to all meet and go karaoke-ing, and then we’ll eat dinner together again. I’m SO excitedddd!!! I LOOOOOVEEE karaoke!!!! I can’t wait! We have to go at 4pm though, when it’s kinda expensive, because we have class until 3:30pm. BOOO I hate class. And speaking of class, I haven’t even finished reading everything yet. AI YA!!! (The Chinese students told me I could say ai yo too. Hahaha :)) Okay well, off to do some reading now. Bye bye!
